ACTIVITIES

Restaurants

Closest and so delicious is the Boothbay Harbor Lobster Wharf - everything they have is great and they have buck-a-shuck oysters at 5pm and live music often. Easy to walk to - down Crest Ave to the bottom of the hill, take a left on Lobster Cove Rd. and walk to the Catholic church. Take a left onto Atlantic Ave. and you will see the parking lot on the other side of the street.

One of my personal favorite spots is the Linekin Bay Resort Deck Bar & Grill - Family friendly, amazing meals, yum cocktails, and a heated saltwater pool. Great views too!

I love the Boathouse Bistro. They have great tapas & a roof deck with a view.

The East Boothbay General Store makes great sandwiches and carry excellent wines and local beer, which is perfect for a picnic out on Ocean Point (a spectacular view).

And The Salty Stag at the Sprucepoint Inn is a lovely spot with a beautiful view as well, and very close to Sprucewold - also great for brunch.

The Trevett Store is a great spot for lobster rolls on the Sheepscot River in view of the Sheepscot River. Or you can hold off on digging in and take your feast to nearby Knickercane Island for a picnic.

On The Water

If you'd like to experience a traditional New England Clambake, Cabbage Island Clambakes provides an amazing spread and includes a boat tour of the harbor as well.

Whale Watching is just incredible, in my humble opinion. Getting close up to the magnificent animals and spending the day on the ocean is a wonderful time.

Chartering a boat for a fishing excursion is also a great activity and here is where you can find a list of Captains to get in touch with.

Check out the Burnt Island Lighthouse, and enjoy the "living" lighthouse presented with keeper Joseph Muise and his family as it was in the 1950's.

Out and About

Gallery hopping is always a great time in Boothbay Harbor. Gleason Gallery represents some great Maine artists, and local artist representation is easily discoverable at several galleries on the main streets of town. Sculptor Phillipe Villard and painter and printmaker, Kim Villard have a studio you can visit, where you see their process and purchase works directly from the artists themselves. There are many more gallery and studio pamphlets in the cabin binder if you care to take a peek.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are spectacular and great for every guest of every age. I am a member and I go all of the time. So much beauty.

Hiking and walking Boothbay Harbor Landtrust Trails is a must if you want to experience the natural beauty of this area. Some of my personal favorites are Oven's Mouth and Porter Preserve.

Every Thursday night, there is a Band Concert on the Library lawn, and I have been in attendance for as many as possible since I was a baby. It is a very fun time with locals and tourists alike. Walk across the Footbridge and get an ice cream or a hot dog at Wannawaf on your way there. It's a perfect night.
